Jet Airways announced the introduction of a second daily flight between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi, bolstering connectivity to meet the booming traffic on this key sector.
The new service, designated as flight 9W 212, is conveniently timed to depart for Abu Dhabi from New Delhi, in the evening at 1745 hrs IST. It arrives in Abu Dhabi at 2010 hrs (local time). The return flight, 9W 211, departs Abu Dhabi at 0845 hrs local time, arriving in New Delhi the same afternoon at 1335 hrs IST.
This new flight also links Mangaluru to key international business centres such as London, Amsterdam, Singapore and Hong Kong and popular tourist destinations such as Bangkok, Kathmandu and Dhaka through New Delhi.
The burgeoning ties between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have opened up significant opportunities for enhanced cooperation in the areas of trade and business, aside from encouraging tourism and leisure travel between the two countries. The UAE is already a major investor in India, engaged in projects relating to infrastructure development, energy, metallurgical industries, services as well as computer software and hardware. Similarly, the UAE economy offers attractive and abundant investment opportunities to Indian businesses due to the country’s economic and political stability as well as it being a key gateway to regional and international markets. In fact, bilateral trade between the two nations is projected to cross US$100 billion by 2020. The extensive economic activity has contributed towards accelerating the demand for air travel between the two countries, which is rapidly gathering momentum.
Mr. Jayaraj Shanmugam, Chief Commercial Officer, Jet Airways, said:
“The new service will offer our guests additional flexibility and choice to plan their travel, whether to the Gulf or further onwards. It is yet another step from Jet Airways to make their travel experience enjoyable, convenient and comfortable. Our signature Indian hospitality together with our commitment to creating an exceptional flying experience for our guests will undoubtedly cement our place as the preferred airline on this extremely vital route.”
The new frequency will also double Jet Airways’ cargo capacity on the sector.
