bmi regional continues to further enhance its position as an airline of choice for the business traveller as they appointed a new Director of Revenue and Planning.
Barry Oaten has joined the fast growing team at bmi regional to oversee all revenue and planning activities.
This latest appointment finalises bmi regional’s new ‘functional blocs’ structure in the commercial department with the first two, Sales and Customer Engagement, being created in 2015. Alwin Hollander and Rachel Start were appointed directors of each of these departments last year.
Oaten’s role will see him overseeing four key functions within Revenue and Planning: Revenue Management, Planning, Partnerships and Business Development.
Oaten brings over 30 years of commercial airline experience to bmi regional, having begun his aviation career at British Airways where he rose through the ranks to become Revenue Operations Executive. Since then he has held positions at Debonair as Manager, Revenue Management, Maersk Air UK as Head of Revenue Management, Monarch as Head of Planning and most recently with Flybe as the Manager for Network Development.
Oaten said of his new role: “I’m excited to be joining bmi regional at this time. The airline is currently putting into effect some exciting changes both in terms of the team structure and of the route network. I’m really looking forward to working alongside my new team members to ensure that bmi regional continues to increase efficiencies and build profitability.”
Chief Commercial Officer, Jochen Schnadt will oversee the performance of the three new divisions. He commented: “I’m delighted to be adding Barry as leader of the new Revenue & Planning functional bloc. He will be responsible for the combination of our revenue management and pricing functions with our network and schedule planning functions into a single department, marrying these two critically important functions with a view to optimising and improving our revenue performance.”
