Norwegian start-up FlyViking announced that the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority has awarded the airline an Air Operator Certificate.
“This is a milestone in the company’s history and means that FlyViking´s plan of traffic program can take place”, the airline said in a statement.
The regional airline is expected to launch operations in March.
The airline will initially focus on routes and airports that have sufficient traffic volume to allow for more than one airline to operate.
Flights will be operated with a Dash 8-100 turboprop aircraft but, according to local media, the airline may be considering the possibility of adding regional jets to its fleet in the future.
