There will be more direct flight connections to Lapland when Germania commences flights from Zurich to Rovaniemi Airport in the Winter season 2016–17.

The flights will be operated twice a week from December 2016 to March 2017.

Earlier, Germania announced two other new routes in Lapland: Berlin–Rovaniemi and Duesseldorf–Kittila.

“Finavia warmly welcomes Germania to Lapland airports. New route connections in Lapland are the outcome of fruitful cooperation between Finavia, Visit Finland and the travel operators of the regions”, the airport operator said in a statement.

The new flights schedule is as follows:

  • GM3578 ZRH – RVN departs 06:40/ arrives 11:10
  • GM3579 RVN – ZRH departs 11:55 / arrives 14:30

Airlines have recently shown substantially higher interest towards the Finnish Lapland. Monarch will commence direct flights to Lapland from Manchester and London. Lufthansa introduces direct connections from Frankfurt to Ivalo. Lufthansa’s connection between Munich and Kittila will also be available next winter..

Finavia has invested heavily in tourism in Lapland in recent years, with a total investment of EUR 35 million in Lapland’s airports in 2014–2016.
