The air route between Durham Tees Valley and Aberdeen is being boosted after operator Loganair added its service and now plans to enhance the schedule following positive passenger numbers in the first three months of operations.

The afternoon schedule has moved back by two and a half hours, departing Aberdeen at 3.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. Thursday departs Aberdeen 3.45 returning north from Durham Tees Valley at 5pm. The 1pm service which operates Sunday – Wednesday is now two hours later with passengers able to travel south from Aberdeen at 3.30pm instead of 1pm.

Kay Ryan, Loganair’s commercial director said:

“These schedule adjustments are specially tailored to enhance convenience for passengers traveling between the two airports, timed to meet their requirements and improve our offering, particularly for those customers who operate in the Oil and Gas industries.”

“The Aberdeen route has been performing extremely well with excellent passenger volumes, especially as we are operating against a competitor and that we are a new airline to many people in the area.

“Unfortunately, the Norwich – Durham route wasn’t performing in line with expectations with no signs of improving so we’ve taken the decision to withdraw the service from January 7th”

“However, this shouldn’t take away from our overall performance out of the airport, increasing passenger numbers by 74% in our first full month of operation is a testament to the need for an operator that listens to its customers and provides a reliable and reasonably priced service.”

“We’re looking forward to building upon this strong position as we approach 2018 and we’re hugely confident about the year ahead.”
