Over the past decade, since Wizz Air opened the Cluj-Napoca base, the airline has continuously invested in its ever-growing networking, offering now 34 routes to 16 countries, including the domestic route to Bucharest. In the past 12 months ending on 30 November 2016 Wizz Air carried more than 1.3 million passengers to and from its Cluj-Napoca base.

Speaking at a press conference in Cluj-Napoca, Tamara Vallois, Wizz Air’s Head of Communications, said: ”Today’s announcement further underlines our commitment to Romania and the Transylvania region. The sixth aircraft arriving in March 2017 will bring more opportunities and low fares for our Cluj-Napoca customers and their visitors. Our investment into the Cluj-Napoca base with an additional aircraft, six new routes and increased frequencies on existing routes will further stimulate tourism and hospitality industries and strengthen business relations between the countries. We are also proud to become the title sponsor of the biggest running event in Transylvania and are looking forward to welcoming many local and international runners at the 2017 Wizz Air Cluj-Napoca Marathon next year in April.”
