Porter Airlines is adding a second weekly flight to Stephenville, NL, this summer, as it seeks to improve travel options for southwestern and western Newfoundland.
Increased service begins June 20, 2015, connecting non-stop to Halifax.
“The Stephenville route was very popular last year, so this schedule enhancement will meet growing customer demand,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. “There is now increased flexibility and convenience for travellers to go along with the premium service Porter is known for.”
Stephenville Mayor Tom O’Brien said, “Porter Airlines returning with an enhanced schedule is great news for our airport and travellers from and to the southwestern and western regions of our province. Travellers loved the Porter service last year and have been asking if there would be a repeat this year. I am confident the residents will be very pleased with, and will support, Porter Airlines with their enhanced schedule.”
Eleanor Rose, Chair, Board of Directors, Stephenville Airport said, “On behalf of the Stephenville Airport Corporation Board of Directors, the team is excited to welcome Porter Airlines’ enhanced service for our citizens. The market has proven its full performance potential.”
“We are very pleased with this announcement today,” said Brenda Martin, CEO and Airport Manager of Stephenville Airport. “This marks the successful execution of the next step in our strategic plan. We are very proud to build on the momentum of last season’s success. Expanding Porter Airlines’ twice-weekly service to and from Stephenville, connecting with cities on the mainland, presents more options for both the leisure and corporate traveller.”
From June 20, to Sept. 6, Porter will offer two weekly flights departing Halifax on Saturdays and Wednesdays. Return flights depart Stephenville the following day on Sundays and Thursdays. Continuing service on the same aircraft to Ottawa and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is also available.
