Southwest Airlines Pilots to Picket at Love Field Airport

Southwest Airlines Pilots’ Association announced that uniformed pilots will carry out an Informational Picket at Love Field Airport Terminal on Wednesday morning, August 24.

According to the Pilot’s Association, Southwest Airlines pilots have been without an acceptable contract since 2012.

“During that time, shareholders have been rewarded with nearly $6 billion in stock buybacks while the pilot group has not had a raise since 2011”, the Association said in a statement.

“After four years of negotiations, SWAPA continues to demonstrate their collective displeasure to management, the flying public, and Southwest Airlines shareholders. Four years, particularly during a time of record profits, is far too long for a company known for its “LUV” to not provide a worthy contract offer to its operational front-line leaders, the pilots”.

In the beginning of August, the board of directors from the Southwest Airlines Pilots’ Association (SWAPA) voted 20-0 by resolution a “Vote of No Confidence” in CEO Gary Kelly and COO Mike Van de Ven.

Located in Dallas, Texas, the Southwest Airlines Pilots’ Association (SWAPA) is a non-profit employee organization representing the more than 8,300 pilots of Southwest Airlines.

I thought there were like 1000 of them last time they picketed, but I may have been seeing double when I drove by.

Some snappy new uniforms and tasty snack boxes might improve their attitudes a little. Ingrates.

Why can’t all of us luv warriors thrust our love in one synchromonious direction and feel our precious bodily fluids flowing through one servants heart and just accept less money in exchange for the blessings of loving one another and serving the needs of our exalted leaders?????? 🙂

The author conveniently leaves out the fact that SWA pilots are industry-leading in cancellation, move up, reroute, fatigue and JA pay. They regularly reap the benefits of what we call the “meltdown bonus”.

I am not a plumber. I have experience that can only be measured by my past performance and example of dedication to my craft. I consider myself a BARGAIN at platform rates.

I am a pilot. I am a professional. I produce results. I will fight as hard for my future as hard as I have fought to become what I am today… And I have overcome a lot.

    Bring it Gary.

I did it! After 15 years of plotting a scheming I’ve finally convinced the gullible masses!

No matter what the Company offers I will call for a strike vote. It all began in 1993 when I was JAed … I’m STILL angry. I was booted out of office in 2002 and called out for my anti Herb rhetoric. Of course that hurt my feelings so I’m angry about that … Now I invoke Herb …. LOL! My wife left me and I’m miserable, so I’m taking out all my anger on Southwest airlines and it’s stupid gullible pilots. And some of them actually believe I intend to deliver a contract! Hell no! I’m working towards as strike and NOTHING will stand in my way. Not even an awesome contract.

I publish rambling vitriol and never never back it up with facts … and the masses eat it up with a spoon. All you have to do is tell people that they are victims and they will follow you anywhere. Industry leading isn’t enough when you have an ax to grind!

Leading from the front(that is some funny stuff … I haven’t flown a full schedule in a decade and I don’t need or care about this job)

Haven’t flown a full schedule because that would get in the way of kissing managements a@@ at the GO!

Hmm. A quote from a great movie: “Hi, I’m President Business, president of the Octan Corporation, and the world. Let’s take extra care to follow the instructions (or you’ll be put to sleep) and don’t forget about Taco Tuesday coming next week! The day everyone gets a free taco and my love! Have a great day everybody!”
