Viva Aerobus, Mexico’s ultra-low-cost airline, continues to strengthen national connectivity with the announcement of the new route Cancun-Torreon, being the only operator offering this non-stop connection.
The flights will begin operations on June 2, 2018, with two weekly frequencies, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
With these new flights, Viva Aerobus celebrates the end of the year having announced 23 new routes, totaling 88 routes to 37 different destinations. In addition, the airline strengthens as the second operator with more national destinations from Cancun and becomes a co-leader in the number of destinations offered from Torreon.
“We are proud to be the first ones to offer this new route that links the south and the north of the country, a sign of our firm commitment to Mexico: to make every corner of the country available for anyone,” said Juan Carlos Zuazua, general director of Viva Aerobus. “This is only possible from fair and accessible prices such as those offered by Viva, and building bridges of contact between destinations that did not have this type of direct communication,” he added.
Zuazua mentioned that this new route will have a positive impact on both cities, boosting their economic dynamism. With these flights, it will be possible to take advantage of the touristic attractions of Quintana Roo, as well as the commercial opportunities offered by Torreon’s industrial development.
In the first year of operations of this route, Viva expects to transport more than 16,000 passengers. In this sense, in the first 10 months of the year, the airline reported a 30% increase in the number of passengers transported, compared to the previous year.
