Cape Air will reintroduce cargo services between New Bedford and Nantucket, providing shipping connectivity between mainland Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the islands. Limited off-season cargo service to Martha’s Vineyard will also be available.

As residents and local businesses have continued to feel the effects of COVID-19, it has become more important than ever to have consistent, reliable cargo services available across the region. Cape Air, New Bedford Regional Airport, Nantucket Memorial Airport, and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), collaborated to produce the necessary logistical arrangements and approvals needed to reinstate essential cargo options for the New Bedford community.

“Reinstating our New Bedford-Nantucket cargo service allows us to bring back crucial connectivity for our regional shippers, offering a direct cargo connection for local businesses, especially those in the fishing, medical and service industries,” said Linda Markham, President of Cape Air.

“It’s become more important than ever during the current pandemic environment to have convenient, consistent cargo service between New Bedford, Cape Cod and the Islands. As a company committed to taking care of the communities we serve, we made reintroducing this program a top priority.”

“This is exciting news,” said Scot Servis, Airport Manager, New Bedford Regional Airport. “Thank you Cape Air for returning this once-popular service back to the New Bedford Regional Airport”.
