fastjet Zimbabwe announced the launch of a new route from Bulawayo, the second-largest city in Zimbabwe, to Johannesburg.
Effective December 5, 2019, the airline will fly the new route with 22 scheduled flights per week including double-daily frequencies Monday through Friday with a single flight operation on Sunday.
This supports same-day travel opportunities Monday through to Friday, with convenient timings on Sunday for those planning a weekend getaway or for those super-commuters who travel weekly between the city where they live and the city where they work.
The new route will complement the airline’s daily return service from its hub in Harare to Johannesburg. The route will be operated by the airline’s Embraer ERJ145, which offers travelers an exclusive seating configuration of either a window or aisle seat and the convenient drop and fly cabin baggage service.
With an expected flying time of 1 hour and 20 minutes in both directions and early morning and evening departures, the flight times will be convenient for both leisure and business travelers, according to fastjet Zimbabwe’s Chief Executive Officer Joao Sousa.
He added: “It’s great that we can make a seamless journey a reality for our loyal customers supporting new business, trade and leisure opportunities between the two countries. We are excited to announce the first of a number of new routes approved by the regulators for the Zimbabwe network and we are committed to working with our team to ensure the success of this new route.”
The airline will fly from Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo, International airport located 25km outside Bulawayo, to OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, where travelers may connect to multiple global destinations on the services of ticketing airline partners Qatar Airways, Emirates or an airline of choice.
The new route schedule will increase fastjet daily flights across the network to 114 flights per week.
