FlyArystan Launches Eight New Routes from Karaganda

Kazakhstan low-cost airline FlyArystan announced the start of sales for eight new routes from its new aircraft base in Karaganda.

Starting on April 20, the sixth FlyArystan aircraft will join the fleet of the fast-growing Kazakh low-cost carrier and will become the first one based at the Sary-Arka International Airport, Karaganda.

The new routes to be served from Karaganda are to Atyrau, Aktau, Kostanay, Kyzylorda, Aktobe, Shymkent, Semey and Moscow (Zhukovsky). They will join the existing Karaganda service to Almaty that was started in May 2019 with the launch of FlyArystan.

At a press briefing in Karaganda today Tim Jordan, Managing Director of FlyArystan said:

“The Karaganda region is one of the largest industrial regions of the country, with a modern infrastructure, convenient geographical location and a promising future, the development of which is impossible without air transport. And we, the Air Astana group of companies, in particular, FlyArystan are ready to contribute to that continued growth by establishing our first regional aircraft base at Sary-Arka International Airport, Karaganda.”

Janar Jailauova, sales and marketing director, said:

“The opening of a base in Karaganda is an important event not only for residents of the entire region but also for the Kazakhstan aviation industry as a whole since the new FlyArystan base in Karaganda is not only the first regional base of a low-cost airline but also demonstrates the growth that can be achieved by other large regional airports across the country. We are very pleased that now from the very heart of Kazakhstan it is possible to fly directly to 8 other domestic cities right across the country, & Moscow (Zhukovsky), with our low fares. That is great for Karaganda, the region and people all across the country.”

FlyArystan began its operations with two aircraft on May 1, 2019, which were based in Almaty. In the fourth quarter of 2019, two additional aircraft were added to the aircraft fleet and were based in Nur-Sultan. The initial Almaty base will add its third aircraft in March 2020 and with the expansion of the fleet to 6 aircraft in the spring of 2020, the low-cost airline is opening its first regional base in Karaganda. It expects to open additional aircraft bases across the country as its fleet continues to grow.

In less than 10 months of operations, FlyArystan has sold approximately 1,200,000 seats and carried more than 950,000 passengers with a customer load factor of 93%. The on-time performance of the new low-cost carrier has averaged more than 88% since its startup in May 2019. As a consequence of the launch and growth of FlyArystan the Kazakh domestic aviation market is now one of the fastest-growing in the world.
