Avinor: A Good August For The Norwegian Aviation Industry

This year, Oslo Airport enjoyed growth totaling 7% compared with August last year.

Bergen Airport, which recently opened a new terminal, saw traffic growth of 4.4%, while the volume of traffic to and from Stavanger and Trondheim was virtually unchanged compared to last year.

The August figures show the same trend as July, with significant growth for popular tourist destinations such as the Svolvær (+41.1%), Leknes (+26.2%), Røros (+26.4%), Stokmarknes (+27.9%) and Tromsø (+8.8%).

So far this year, around 35 million passengers have traveled via Avinor’s airports, which is an increase of 4.6% compared to last year.

“2017 is shaping up to be a solid year for traffic volumes, largely thanks to a major increase in foreign passengers visiting Norway. These figures show how important Avinor’s airport network and, in particular, the selection of routes offered by airline companies is for business and tourism in Norway. It goes without saying that this is great motivation for continuing the excellent work that has already been carried out in developing and operating our airports”, says CEO of Avinor Dag Falk-Petersen.
