JSC Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCAC) and The Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute completed another series of tests with regard to Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft.
This resulted in technical solutions on improvement of passenger acoustic comfort that will be applied in SSJ100 batch manufacturing.
As requested by SCAC, TsAGI completed the cycle studies of the noise profile that determines the in-flight acoustic environment in the passenger and crew cabins. Studies were conducted by order of SCAC on test and production SSJ100 aircraft. The objective of this experiment was to find out whether it would be possible to employ the reserves provided for at the design stage in order to improve the level of comfort.
To carry out acoustic flight tests, microphones for noise level measurement were installed throughout the length of the passenger cabin and in the crew cabin. Also, special-purpose windows with detectors measuring pressure pulsation on the exterior surface of fuselage were put at the locations of standard windows.
To reach the best possible quiet and comfort results, TsAGI experts recommended that innovative vibration absorbing materials should be used in SSJ100 tail and central sections. SCAC examined TsAGI suggestions and will apply them in Sukhoi Superjet 100 batch manufacturing in the near future.
In the context of the tests performed, TsAGI experts confirmed that noise exposure limits inside the aircraft passenger cabin and SSJ100 crew cabin meet the requirements set in GOST (National State Standard) 20296-2014 and there is room for further improvement of acoustic comfort.

Over the past decade, SCAC and TsAGI have carried out a lot of tests to confirm that SSJ100 design meets the requirements of Russian and European aviation authorities, as well as a number of studies and tests to reveal SSJ built-in capacities, including flight range extension, acoustic features improvement, assured resource enhancement.”
