Kazakh regional airline Qazaq Air will launch a new service between Almaty and Taraz on May 5, 2017, as part of its newly updated flight schedule for the spring and summer season.

The new service will be operated twice a week, on Fridays and Sundays, allowing Almaty residents and visitors to travel to one of Kazakhstan’s most ancient cities onboard one of the airline’s Bombardier Q400 aircraft.

Flights between Almaty and Taraz will take approximately 55 minutes.

Adel Dauletbek, Qazaq Air Commercial Director, said:

“Located on the Great Silk Route, Taraz was one of the main political and economic centers of Central Asia. The city, with a history of more than 2000 years, can rightly be called a treasure of ancient Kazakhstan.

“We hope that with the start of our Almaty to Taraz route, we will be able to contribute to the growth of the Kazakh tourism industry and more people will be able to experience first hand the majesty of the mausoleums of Aisha Bibi, Karakhan, the Tekturmas architectural complex and other historical monuments, many of which are UNESCO heritage sites”.
