Tjalling Smit has made the decision to leave Air France-KLM and join NS Dutch Railways where he will take up the position of Chief Commercial Officer and member of the Executive Board.
Tjalling Smit joined KLM in 2001 and occupied various roles in sales. From January 2015, he was SVP Digital Air France-KLM in the Air France-KLM Marketing, Digital and Communication division.
“Against the backdrop of a revolution in the travel Industry and the transformation of customer needs, Air France-KLM is a major player in digital innovation and personalizing the Customer experience through the shrewd use of the data available to us. The performance standards set by our sales websites and apps and the new functions like “Rate My Flight” are proof of this. I would like to thank Tjalling Smit for progress in digitizing Air France-KLM and wish him every success in his new role. Digital is more than ever a strategic priority for Air France-KLM. Mr. Smit’s successor will be appointed shortly” said Jean-Marc Janaillac, Chairman, and CEO of Air France-KLM.
Tjalling Smit, Senior Vice President Digital Air France – KLM:
“KLM has given me many opportunities to hold a variety of posts in the Netherlands and beyond, where I have always worked with wonderful colleagues. This made the decision to leave this superb company more difficult, but I ultimately decided that I should pursue my career elsewhere. I sincerely hope that KLM manages to retain its lead in the digital field.”
Tjalling Smit will leave Air France-KLM on 31 March 2017.
