Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, has announced a further frequency increase to its Antananarivo flight schedule that will boost travel options between Seychelles, the Malagasy capital and beyond.From 28 June 2016 to 10 January 2017, the Antananarivo flight frequency will be increased to four-weekly with an additional Tuesday service, complementing the carrier’s existing flights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
The outbound service from Seychelles to Antananarivo has been timed to connect seamlessly to flights arriving in Seychelles from Abu Dhabi and will take off from the airline’s Mahé hub at 10.05 am, arriving in Antananarivo later the same morning at 11.50 am.
On the return leg, the flight will depart Antananarivo at 2:50 pm to touch down in Seychelles in the early evening at 6:35 pm, with convenient onward connections to Abu Dhabi and Mumbai.
Roy Kinnear, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles, said: “We are delighted to provide our guests with more choice and convenience when flying to and from Madagascar, the fourth-largest island in the world.
“Upgrading Antananarivo to four weekly services will support the increased travel demand between our island nations in the Indian Ocean, and not only greatly enhance connectivity for guests travelling between Madagascar, the UAE and India via Seychelles but also to important cities in Madagascar such as Nosy Be and Toliara.
“This extra frequency will increase the route capacity by a significant 33 per cent, enabling us to boost the flow of trade and tourism to our famous archipelago, thereby fulfilling one of our main goals as the national airline.
“As the benefits of better air connectivity are two-way, it will also drive growth in Antananarivo, an important point in our regional network and an exciting gateway to the region as well as to an island renowned for its unique wildlife and biodiversity.”
The new flight will continue to be operated on an Airbus A320 aircraft in a two cabin configuration, with 16 business class and 120 economy class seats.
