airberlin to codeshare with US Airways

After the merger of US Airways with American Airlines last year, airberlin has now signed a comprehensive codeshare agreement with US Airways.

The new partnership supplements the existing codeshare offer with American Airlines. This means that airberlin is offering its guests an even greater choice of flight connections to the USA.

As of now, all US Airways flights from Frankfurt to Charlotte and Philadelphia and from Munich and Zurich to Philadelphia will have an airberlin flight number. Selected connecting flights within the USA, for instance from New York to Charlotte or Phoenix, will also be offered in codeshare. In return, access to the dense airberlin domestic route network in Germany as well as flights from Germany to other European destinations such as Barcelona, Copenhagen and Milan will be available to US Airways flight guests as of today.

Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, Chief Executive Officer airberlin, said: “The USA continues to be an important core market for us in 2014. We already have a very good partnership with American Airlines and we are looking forward to expanding this through the codeshare agreement with US Airways. The codeshare agreement makes it possible for us to further optimise our offer in the USA and to offer our guests even more travel opportunities.”

Since US Airways joined the oneworld® airline alliance at the end of March, topbonus members can also collect and redeem Premium and Status miles on flights with US Airways, as with American Airlines.
