Alitalia will from June fly twice a day from Lebanon to Italy with an additional four new weekly flights from Beirut to Rome.
The rise in the number of flights between the two capital cities is as a result of high demand and a growth in the number of air travellers on the route. Alitalia carried in 2015 more than 103,000 passengers between Beirut and Rome, a six per cent increase on figures for the previous year.
Travellers from Lebanon will benefit also from easy transfers at Alitalia’s hub base at Fiumicino Airport in Rome to 26 airports throughout Italy and more than 50 destinations in Europe, Asia and the Americas, including Alitalia’s new long haul destinations to Santiago, which starts on 1 May, and Mexico City which begins on 16 June.
Alitalia also codeshares with Middle East Airlines so MEA travellers from Beirut to Rome can benefit from Alitalia’s onward domestic and international route network.
