American Airlines and Air Tahiti Nui, the international airline of Tahiti, filed documents today with the Department of Transportation seeking approval of a bilateral codeshare agreement.
When approved, the codeshare agreement will allow American to place its code on Air Tahiti Nui flights between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Papeete Faa’a International Airport (PPT) and will allow Air Tahiti Nui to place its code on American flights from Los Angeles to more than 15 cities throughout the United States including New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, Boston, Dallas/Fort-Worth and Miami.
“Upon approval, our codeshare relationship with Air Tahiti Nui would give our customers yet another option when traveling to the South Pacific and French Polynesia,” said Kurt Stache, American’s Vice President— Strategic Alliances. “We look forward to working with Air Tahiti Nui to provide our customers more options and easy access when traveling throughout our respective networks.”
“The marketing strength of American Airlines will raise awareness across the United States about the destination of Tahiti and the addition of these new cities to the route network will help in further developing the inflow of tourists to Polynesia,” said Etienne Howan, Chairman and CEO of Air Tahiti Nui.
