Austrian Airlines receives 15th Dash 8-400

Austrian Airlines awaits the latest addition to its Dash 8-400 family of aircraft.

The latest member of the Austrian Airlines fleet with the registration OE-LGO is expected to land in Innsbruck today at 6 p.m. local time after completing its positioning flight from Winnipeg, Canada. The aircraft is the 15th Turboprop in the Austrian Airlines family. The Dash maintenance team located in Innsbruck will carry out various conversion and refitting tasks in the initial phase and bring the aircraft up to Austrian Airlines standards with respect to cockpit and flight safety.

The first flight of the new aircraft offering flight service from Zurich to Lugano is scheduled to take place in wet lease on November 1, 2014 on behalf of SWISS, which also belongs to the Lufthansa Group. In the future four flights each day will be operated on this route. By deploying the larger aircraft SWISS will be able to increase its capacity on the route by 50 percent.

“People who know SWISS also know that they have very high standards, not only in terms of quality but also efficiency“, says Austrian Airlines CEO Jaan Albrecht. “It is an honor to be allowed to operate flights on behalf of SWISS, and we will do everything in our power to fulfill these high standards.”

With the arrival of OE-LGO, the fleet of the Austrian Airlines Group will reach a total of 76 aircraft, including 15 from the Dash 8-400 Turboprop series.

Austrian Airlines is Austria’s largest carrier and operates a global route network of round 130 destinations. That route network is particularly dense in Central and Eastern Europe with 41 destinations. Thanks to its favourable geographical location at the heart of Europe, the company’s hub at Vienna International Airport is the ideal gateway between East and West. Austrian Airlines is part of the Lufthansa Group, Europe’s largest airline group, and a member of the Star Alliance, the first global alliance of international airlines. The flight operations of the Austrian Airlines Group has been bundled at its 100% subsidiary Tyrolean Airways since 1st July, 2012.
