Blue Air’s Boeing 737-500 took off from Copenhagen for the first time this morning, bound for Turin in Northern Italy.
This gives passengers at Copenhagen Airport a completely new airline with which to fly and new destinations from which to choose.
Blue Air will open a second route from Copenhagen as early as June, this time to the Romanian capital, Bucharest. Tudor Constantinescu, Blue Air’s Chief Commercial Officer, is delighted about the so far two new routes.
“We’ve had an eye on the Danish market for some time,” he says.
Blue Air will fly a 120-seat Boeing 737-500 to Turin three times a week, with departures on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
“Scandinavia is an increasingly popular destination for Italian passengers, particularly from the Piedmont region. What’s more, we’ve identified strong demand from the Greater Copenhagen area for flights to Turin,” says Tudor Constantinescu.
Peter Krogsgaard, Chief Commercial Officer at Copenhagen Airport, said:
“We’re seeing strong growth in the number of Italian tourists traveling to Denmark. The new Blue Air route to Turin will offer travelers a quick way to get to popular coastal towns such as Savona, San Remo and Genoa in the summer – and to a number of attractive ski destinations in the Italian and French Alps in the winter,” he says.
“And then, of course, there’s the pride and joy of Turin: Juventus, their famous football team,” he adds.
The next Blue Air route will open in June, with three weekly flights between Copenhagen and Bucharest – Monday, Wednesday and Friday – in a 162-seat Boeing 737-400. And that may not be the last Blue Air route from Copenhagen.
“With a large catchment area, a strong economy and vibrant urban life, Copenhagen is an ideal first destination in Denmark – in our opinion – and we hope to add more routes in the future. This is an important strengthening of our position in the Nordic market,” says Tudor Constantinescu.
