Canadian North and First Air update Trans-Arctic service

Canadian North and First Air announced changes to their respective Yellowknife – Rankin Inlet – Iqaluit schedules.

Beginning the week of August 15, 2016, flights between these communities will begin operating on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from the current Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday schedule. Canadian North’s Boeing 737 will move from Thursday to a Monday operation.

This revised flight schedule, developed in response to customer and stakeholder input, will better align with the needs of leisure, corporate and group travel customers. As a result of this change, convenient “Monday to Friday” and “Friday to Monday” itinerary options will now be available on this route.

Peter McCart, Senior Vice President, Scheduled Services at Canadian North, said:

“The thrice weekly Trans-Arctic flight offering is a critical link between our eastern and western route networks for both travellers and cargo customers.”

“We are very pleased to better address customer needs by shifting to a Monday – Wednesday – Friday schedule, while continuing to benefit from the efficiencies made possible through our codeshare agreement with First Air”.

Bert van der Stege, Vice President Commercial at First Air said:

“We’re delighted to again be able to offer Monday, Wednesday and Friday services on this route, thanks to the immediate feedback given by our customers”.

“Throughout the first year of codesharing, we’ve always said that we take feedback very serious. As long as desired changes can be implemented economically, we’re always keen on improvements to better serve our customers”, he added.
