Cobham Aviation Services announced it had extended its agreement with Qantas Freight for a further six years.

The renewed agreement will commence on July 1, 2020, and will run until June 30, 2026, with the option for an additional 12-month extension.

Cobham’s four specialised BAe146-300QT aircraft operate 2500 flights and carry 25,000 tonnes of freight each year as they shuttle between Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

“The latest deal is a significant achievement and is testament to the efforts of the hundreds of people involved in delivering a critically important, high performance service on a daily basis,” Cobham Chief Executive Officer, Ryan Both, said.

“Cobham has been providing dedicated freighter services for Qantas Freight, supporting the Australia Post freight network, for more than 25 years and will continue to do so in the wake of the renewed 7-year agreement signed between Qantas Freight and Australia Post.

Mr. Both said Cobham staff had worked tirelessly to ensure there had been a continuous improvement in the freight division’s operating performance while at the same time maintaining the highest possible safety standards. Cobham remained immensely proud of its long relationship with Qantas.

“We are also the only third party passenger transport operator trusted to operate under the Qantas brand, providing the national carrier with a fleet of 20 717 aircraft along with pilots, cabin crew and maintenance support as part of a separate long term contract,” Mr. Both added.
