EVA Air and Avianca Launch Codeshare Agreement

EVA Air and Avianca began code-sharing on 17 August, 2016, making travel between Asia and Central America more convenient and extending services for both airlines’ passengers.

Under the codeshare agreement, Avianca passengers can take EVA-operated flights to Taipei from Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco. Inbound from Asia, EVA passengers can connect through Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco to fly Avianca to San Salvador.

Avianca is the primary Star Alliance operator of flights in Central and South America.

The new code-sharing agreement enables EVA to offer passengers multiple itinerary choices for flying to the region.

Passengers can connect onward aboard Avianca to San Salvador on nearly 20 flights a week. Travel time from Taipei to San Salvador via the United States is approximately 20 hours, including transit. EVA will continue to evaluate the feasibility of flying to other major cities in Central and South America through code-share relationships, pursuing opportunities to give passengers even more convenience and flexibility in the future.

El Salvador and Taiwan have close diplomatic ties.

Since joining Star Alliance in June 2013, EVA has steadily increased cooperation with member airlines, offering services to more than 190 countries and more than 1300 destinations.

In addition to Avianca, EVA has code-share relationships with Singapore Airlines, Air Canada, United Airlines and 10 more airlines, extending routes and increasing frequency to give passengers seamless services to every corner of the world.
