Flybe has confirmed that it is cancelling its Belfast City service to and from Newcastle with the last flight operating on 30th June, 2016. Flybe however remains fully committed to operating its remaining three routes to and from Newcastle airport for summer that includes daily flights to Exeter, up to three flights a day to Southampton and a peak season Saturday service to Newquay.
A Flybe spokesperson comments: “Flybe carefully reviews the viability of all our routes on a regular basis, looking both at passenger numbers but also at external cost pressures. This is done not only to monitor where we can offer increased regularity on a given route but also where passenger numbers make a flight economically as well as environmentally harder to justify. Regretfully, our Belfast City service has failed to perform to expectations and passenger numbers remain insufficient to justify its continued operation.”
