Flybe launches two new routes to Amsterdam

Flybe has confirmed its commitment to further growth with the announcement of two brand new year-round routes from Manchester and London City, to Amsterdam Schiphol airport, both of which are featured as part of the airline’s new 2014-15 Winter schedule.

The airline will operate daily flights between Manchester and Amsterdam using 88-seat Embraer 175 jet aircraft from 26th October 2014. Flight times are scheduled to appeal particularly to business travellers who need to accommodate a full day’s diary. Weekend flights are the order of the day from London City with the airline offering Saturday morning and Sunday evening flights on 78-seat Bombardier Q400 aircraft, conveniently timed for weekend leisure travel from 1st November.

The two new routes complement those already featured in Flybe’s existing 2014-15 Winter schedule to Amsterdam. It also enhances the airline’s debut schedule out of London City, adding to those routes already announced to Aberdeen, Belfast City, Dublin, Edinburgh, Exeter and Inverness.

Paul Simmons, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer said: “Flybe is committed to offering an extensive regional route network to our customers. As ‘the fastest way from A to Flybe’, are determined to growth and to building on our existing choice of routes to ensure people have the best possible choice of destinations from their local airports. Flybe is the largest scheduled airline by the volume of traffic movements at Manchester and, based on existing evidence, the demand for flights between there and Amsterdam is already extremely high. This is why we have conveniently scheduled our new flights to ensure the best possible times for our business customers and also for those making Flybe connections through our Manchester hub onward to Schiphol”.

“We are, of course, also delighted to add another route to our fast-growing schedule at London City and look forward to welcoming on board all our new passengers in October.”, he added.

The announcement has been welcomed by Hanne Buis, Head of Aviation Marketing at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport who adds: “Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is delighted with the Flybe’s announcement that it will grow its network at the airport from five to seven routes”.

The seven Flybe routes serving Amsterdam from the UK with a choice of up to 150 flights a week are from Birmingham, East Midlands, Exeter, London City, Manchester, Inverness and Southampton.
