Indian airline Vistara inaugurates service to Leh (Ladakh)

India’s full service carrier Vistara inaugurated service from Delhi to Leh (Ladakh).

The airline is operating direct flights between Delhi and Leh on Saturdays and Sundays from March 25, 2017, and will increase the frequency to daily flights during the summer peak season, starting from May 10, 2017.

Vistara celebrated the launch of this service with a traditional Ladakhi folk performance by a Ladakhi troupe in the departures area of Delhi T3, as well as with a similar performance in the arrivals area of Leh airport. Vistara also presented gifts to all passengers on the inaugural flights.

Situated at a height of 10,682 feet, Leh’s picturesque Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is one of the highest altitude airports in the world and requires specially equipped aircraft with specifically trained crew to operate to and from it.

Vistara has configured two of its Airbus A320 aircraft for service to and from Leh.

The introduction of Leh to its fast growing network reflects Vistara’s commitment to connect the country, as well as the airline’s focus on delivering its service to leisure and corporate travelers alike.

Elaborating on the launch of the new destination, Mr. Phee Teik Yeoh, CEO, Vistara said:

“Leh is on the bucket lists of millions of travelers from all over the world, who want to experience the unique culture of this region and its incredibly beautiful landscapes.

“We’re very excited to add this beautiful destination to our network and provide connectivity to its residents. We are confident that this new route will further delight our customers, who will now be able to explore the breathtaking beauty of Ladakh while ‘flying the new feeling’ with Vistara”.
