MEA Signs 10-Year Distribution Agreement with Amadeus

Middle East Airlines – Air Liban (MEA), the national carrier of Lebanon, has cemented a new partnership with Amadeus for distribution services that will see the airline’s content offered through the world’s largest and most diverse travel seller community.

The airline becomes the 16th member to join a 10-year framework agreement with Amadeus for distribution services negotiated in 2017 by the Arab Air Carriers Association (AACO).

Through this partnership, MEA will be able to drive larger economies of scale, increase technological efficiencies, and support their distribution strategy well into the future. With enhanced merchandising and retailing capabilities, Amadeus’ travel seller network will enable MEA to better serve travelers and forge stronger ties with travel sellers.

Dr. Walid Abillamaa, Head of Commercial Strategy and Alliances, MEA, said: “The needs of our customers continue to evolve, and we are dedicated to transforming our operations to meet and exceed their expectations. We will do this by offering the best value and best services, powered by reliable and powerful smart solutions. Amadeus, and the framework developed in partnership with the AACO, will help us to achieve these business goals over the next decade.”

Mr. Maher Koubaa, Vice President & Head of Airline Group – Middle East and Africa, Amadeus, said:

“Airlines in the Middle East have been some of the most successful in the industry over the past decade. Whether their focus is on providing travelers with a premium product, capitalizing on the region as a hub between Asia and Europe, or pursuing a partnership approach, airlines see the value in an omnichannel distribution strategy, to maximize their sales with travelers across the world. We look forward to working with MEA to best support their growth and to deliver continued value.”

Mr. Abdul Wahab Teffeha, Secretary General AACO, said:

“This efficient, long-term agreement represents a landmark for a number of AACO members with a technology partner dedicated to supporting new business strategies. This frame-work secures a solid foundation for those AACO members as they continue to innovate, and it will remain open for additional member airlines that wish to join in the future.”

Having served the region for more than 70 years, MEA today has one of the world’s most modern fleets. The airline serves 32 destinations and carried 3 Million passengers in 2018 alone
