Norwegian announces flights from Gatwick to Iceland and Lapland

Norwegian continues its UK expansion today, by putting on sale two new routes from London Gatwick to Keflavik, Iceland and Rovaniemi, Finland.

From 30th October, Norwegian will add its first UK service to the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik. Three weekly flights will operate direct to Keflavik throughout winter on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Visiting Father Christmas also just got easier, with the start of UK’s only scheduled direct flight to Lapland’s capital – Rovaniemi. Starting just in time for a Christmas getaway on the 19th December, Norwegian are offering twice-weekly flights to the official home of Santa Claus.

As well as the new winter routes, Europe’s third largest low-cost airline Norwegian, has also increase the number of London Gatwick flights to Lanzarote, Tenerife, Tromso and Grenoble, adding an additional 25,000 seats for the winter season on these routes alone.

Sun seekers will now benefit from an additional weekly service to Lanzarote and Tenerife departing Wednesday and Thursday respectively. Tromso will also benefit from a third weekly service on a Wednesday and Grenoble will increase to a twice-weekly service on a Saturday.

Thomas Ramdahl, Chief Commercial Officer at Norwegian said:

“We are committed to offering low-fares with choice and flexibly for our passengers. Both Reykjavik and Rovaniemi are fantastic additions to our growing UK route network, which now serves more than 50 destinations nonstop. The addition of these new routes and extra capacity to some of our most popular winter destinations will make this our busiest winter at London Gatwick.”

Gatwick Airport CEO Stewart Wingate said:

“Norwegian is one of Europe’s fastest growing airlines and we welcome their continued expansion at Gatwick. These latest new routes show Norwegian providing new low cost services to destinations people want to fly to. I expect these routes will be as successful as Norwegian’s others, including their ground-breaking low cost long-haul routes to the US. I look forward to continued close working with Norwegian on what looks like being their busiest year at Gatwick yet.”

In addition to the two new routes and extra capacity from London Gatwick, Norwegian has also launched two new routes from Manchester, with a twice-weekly service to Gran Canaria starting 30th October and twice-weekly service to Tenerife starting 1st November.

Norwegian now serve over 50 business and leisure winter destinations from London Gatwick, Manchester, Edinburgh and Birmingham.
