Solomon Airlines to return to Auki

Solomon Airlines announced that Gwanaru’u airport in Auki, the capital of Malaita Province, has been declared open for resumption of Commercial air services effective from 30th May 2016.

Heralding the announcement, General Manager of Operations and commercial services Mr Gus Kraus stated that the national carrier is excited about this positive development and acknowledges the tireless efforts made by government and land owning parties in ensuring that this much needed air services is brought back to the provincial capital and Malaita province as whole.

Mr Kraus further added that initially, Solomon Airlines will operate 3 services per week to Auki on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

“Our revised Domestic Schedule incorporating Auki is now being loaded into our Reservations Systems and the first Solomon Airlines Commercial flight back to Auki will operate on Monday 30th May 2016. Between now until the flight commencement date it must be noted that as per our standard operating procedures, the airline will ensure its internal safety management and change processes are properly tested and activated, an aspect which is of paramount importance to us for the safety and comfort of our valued traveling passengers as well as the airline”.

Mr Kraus also further added that between now and Monday 30th of May, charter services to Auki are approved and welcome and enquiries.
