Thai Airways restructures international schedules

Thai Airways will temporarily suspend the Bangkok-Seoul-Los Angeles route effective October 25, 2015.

Thai Airways International announced its plans to increase services to key European destinations, as it cuts back underperforming services to the United States and Italy.

The Thai flag carrier will add an extra daily flight from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi to London Heathrow from October 25, using a two-class Boeing 777-300ER to complement the airline’s existing daily Airbus A380 service.

Thai will also increase the frequency of its Bangkok-Frankfurt service by six flights a week, using a Boeing 777-300ERs to add to an existing daily Airbus A380 service.

From the same date, the airline is to stop all US-destination flights with the withdrawal from its Bangkok-Seoul-Los Angeles route. It will also axe its Bangkok to Rome service from the same date.

Thai says the changes will help it toward $250 million-plus savings in operating costs that are aimed at bringing the airline back into profit by 2017.
