Ulrik Svensson Joins the Supervisory Board of Austrian Airlines

Ulrik Svensson, CFO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, was elected today to serve on the Supervisory Board of Austrian Airlines starting May 1, 2017.

The Swedish-born manager will replace Karl Ulrich Garndadt, who is retiring at the end of April and will give up all of his positions in the Lufthansa Group. Harry Hohmeister, Ulrike Donath, Monika Kircher, Michael Niggemann and Veit Schmid-Schmidsfelden will continue as the shareholder representatives on the Supervisory Board of Austrian Airlines.

At present, the employee representatives appointed to the Supervisory Board by the Works Council are Alfred Junghans, Rainer Stratberger and Didem Strebinger.

Moreover, Ulrik Svensson will enrich the Supervisory Board of Austrian Airlines thanks to his profound business knowledge and longstanding management experience in the airline industry and other sectors”, says Harry Hohmeister, Chairman of the Austrian Supervisory Board.

Ulrik Svensson (55) is Chief Financial Officer of Deutsche Lufthansa AG since January 1, 2017. From 2006 to 2016, he was Chief Executive Officer of Melker Schörling AB and in this role responsible for the six listed companies within the investment company, namely Hexagon, AAK, ASSA ABLOY, Securitas, Hexpol and Loomis.

From 2003 to 2006, Ulrik Svensson served as Managing Director Finance and CFO of Swiss International Air Lines. In his role, he was also instrumental in the restructuring of the company. From 2000 to 2003 he was CFO of the British office product provider Esselte. Ulrik Svensson worked from 1992 to 2000 in senior finance positions in the two related telecom companies Millicom and Société Européenne de Communication S.A. based in Luxembourg.

Ulrik Svensson was born in Varberg (Sweden) on June 27, 1961. He is a Swedish national and graduated in business administration from the Stockholm School of Economics. Ulrik Svensson is married and has three children.
