Wizz Air Announces Major Expansion In Wroclaw

Wizz Air today announced a significant expansion of its Wroclaw operations, basing a second Airbus A320 aircraft at Copernicus Airport.

From March 2018, the airline will launch four new routes from Wroclaw to Basel in Switzerland, Gothenburg in Sweden, Kutaisi in Georgia and Porto in Portugal as well increase frequencies on four popular services adding a total of 16 incremental flights to its schedule. In 2018, Wizz Air will offer 800,000 seats on its Wroclaw routes, a 60% growth year over year.

Wizz Air’s first Wroclaw flight took off in 2006 and since then the airline carried over 2.7 million passengers on its low-fare routes while constantly expanding its network. In 2017 Wizz Air has added three new destinations to its Wroclaw offer: the long-awaited Lviv and Reykjavik routes commenced in April and May, respectively, while flights to the year-round sunny Agadir in Morocco will start in November.

In the first eight months of the year, 310,000 passengers traveled by Wizz Air on the airline’s Wroclaw routes, 29% more than in the same period of the previous year. With the four new routes, Wizz Air now connects Wroclaw with 15 destinations across Europe and beyond.
