Wizz Air announces Skopje – Hamburg route

Wizz Air today joined Skopje airport authorities to celebrate the launch of the third new route from Skopje in less than a week, and to mark the announcement of a new route to Hamburg.

Wizz Air commenced flights from Skopje to Berlin on 21 March, to Copenhagen on 22 March and to Bratislava on 27 March. Wizz Air also announced it will move its regular Skopje-Lubeck service to nearby Hamburg from 18 April.

Wizz Air is the largest airline in Macedonia in terms of available capacity, and plans to further increase capacity in 2016 another 22 percent. Earlier this year, Wizz Air passed the two million-passenger mark in Macedonia since the start of operations in Skopje in 2011 (adding flights from Ohrid in June 2015). The airline now offers 24 routes from Macedonia to 11 countries.

David Morgan, Chief Flight Operations Officer at Wizz Air said: “Macedonia continues to exceed our expectations for passenger growth and we are responding with more destinations and low fares. Macedonia not only boasts a rich history but incredible natural beauty as well, particularly around Lake Ohrid. In Skopje, the Old Bazaar, Stone Bridge and Kale Fortress bring tourists from Europe, many on Wizz Air flights, who quickly fall in love with this country. We are very proud to have a hand in strengthening the economy and multiplying opportunities for the country.”
