WOW air Offers Daily Flights From The West Coast To Europe

WOW air, the ultra-low-cost transatlantic airline from Iceland, will now offer daily flights from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Keflavik International Airport (KEF), making it even easier to travel to Europe from the West Coast.

“We saw a great response to our new routes in Calfiornia this summer and are excited to begin daily flights from the West Coast to Europe beginning next Spring,” said Skúli Mogensen, founder and CEO of WOW air. “WOW air is dedicated to providing customers with an easy and affordable way to travel, and continue to do so by offering low-fares and high-performance.”

WOW air announced its entry into the U.S. West Coast market in January 2016 with services beginning this past June. Currently, flights from San Francisco to Iceland are available five days a week, with service from Los Angeles scheduled four days a week.

California routes are serviced by Airbus A330-300 aircrafts, the first wide-body planes in the WOW air fleet, which each carry 350 passengers in a single-class configuration. Seat pitch will vary from 30 inches as standard to 34 inches at an additional charge.

Launched in November 2011, WOW air now connects 31 destinations across the U.S. and Europe with the Icelandic capital. WOW air’s annual passenger capacity is projected to more than double in 2016 to over 1.8 million, up from approximately 840,000 in 2015.

Airline currently operates six Airbus A321 aircraft and recently purchased four. WOW air´s fleet also consists of three Airbus A330-300 planes and two A 320-200 planes. By the end of 2017 the fleet will consist of 17 aircraft with the average age of the whole fleet only 2.5 years.
