Plane Crashes Near Fond du Lac With 25 People on Board

Canadian airline West Wind Aviation confirmed that one of its ATR 42 aircraft was involved in an accident near Fond du Lac airport while en route to Stony Rapids, earlier today.

“Emergency authorities are on site and are assisting with passengers requiring any medical attention. There are no fatalities, and the extent of injuries is unknown”, the airline said in a statement shortly after the accident.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police reported all occupants have been accounted for and have been taken to hospitals.

Investigators from the TSB’s bureau in Winnipeg have been deployed to the crash site, “but it is still too early to determine the cause of the crash”, said a senior investigator with the board’s air branch.

The investigators are expected to arrive in Fond-du-Lac around 4 p.m. local time.

West Wind Aviation operates from bases in Saskatoon, La Ronge and Stony Rapids, as well as in satellite locations in northern Saskatchewan.
