Flybe launches new route from Ireland West Airport Knock to Birmingham

Flybe has announced it is to operate a new route between Birmingham and Ireland West Airport Knock on four days a week from October 27th, 2013.

This expansion of Flybe services is good news for the West of Ireland and is Flybe’s third new service from the airport following the continued success of their services to Manchester and Edinburgh.

Commenting on the announcement, Flybe’s Head of PR, Niall Duffy said, “Flybe is absolutely delighted to launch this new route to Birmingham at the start of the 2013-14 winter season. Given that we are already the biggest airline at Birmingham airport, when we learnt of the opportunity to offer the route it was an obvious and natural extension to our network. We look forward to welcoming thousands of new passengers onto the service and are pleased to be able to step into the breach.”

Welcoming the expansion by Flybe, Minister Ring said, “I’m delighted to welcome the announcement by Flybe today to operate a new Birmingham service for the Airport which is another positive development in the year of the Gathering.  Flybe continue to provide an invaluable service to the people of the West and North West of Ireland and we look forward to continuing to welcome visitors from the Birmingham region of the UK to the West this autumn and wish Flybe every success with the new service’ 

Managing Director of Ireland West Airport Knock Joe Gilmore said, ‘We are delighted to welcome today’s announcement by Flybe to operate a new Birmingham service. Our Birmingham service has long been one of our most established routes from the airport with over 50,000 passengers using the services each year. Today’s announcement highlights Flybe’s commitment to serving the people of the West & North West of Ireland, providing vital connectivity to key markets in the UK and Scotland’.
