Monarch announces Lisbon and Madrid as new destinations

Monarch today announced the addition of flights and holidays to its summer 2016 schedule.

This includes two new destinations: Manchester, London Gatwick and Birmingham to Lisbon and Birmingham to Madrid.

Monarch also announces that an additional Airbus A320 aircraft will be based at Birmingham Airport for summer 2016. This brings the total number of aircraft flying for Monarch to 35, with nine based at Birmingham.

Following the successful introduction of flights from London Luton earlier this month, a new route from Manchester to Tel Aviv will start in April 2016.

Portugal’s capital city, Lisbon, is a year round popular destination. Steeped in history and contemporary culture Lisbon is a city that will interest all ages. As well as the culture, Lisbon has beautiful beaches lining the silver coast so with its mild winters and long summers Portugal’s capital is a destination that appeals to all types of holiday makers.

Madrid is a lively, cosmopolitan city with fantastic food and wine. The Spanish capital has plenty to offer with museums, art galleries and a vibrant night life. Tasty tapas bars line the streets neighbouring the rich historical landmarks the city has to offer.

The extended summer 2016 schedule also includes new frequencies to many of the airline’s most popular destinations such as Malaga, Alicante, Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife with flights at sociable times, allowing customers to escape for a weekend or a longer break to some of Europe’s most popular leisure destinations.

Marjan Schoeke, Monarch’s Head of Network Development comments:

“We continuously refine and develop our network strategy looking closely at where and at what time our customers want to fly. We are delighted to announce that for Summer 16 we will launch two new destinations to Lisbon and Madrid both of which we know will be a popular choice with our customers. In addition and based on customer demand we will also be launching a Manchester to Tel Aviv service. This follows on from a successful launch of flights from Luton at the beginning of December. In total over 2100 flights have been added to our network for summer 2016”
