TAP Portugal’s A330 named João Gonçalves Zarco is now operating with a completely renewed cabin. This is the first of seven A330s that will have gone through this fleet update program by the end of the year.
This programme represents TAP’s commitment to improving comfort and customer service, and is part of the airline’s capitalisation plan TAP has invested 70 million euros in renewing its fleet and is improving its product to passengers in all classes, bringing the image of the cabins into line with the A330neo that will soon be joining the fleet.
TAP’s partnership with Portuguese companies continues, with the selection of materials and finishing development being in the care of Almadesign, and the leather used in some of the Executive class seats being supplied by Couro Azul.
The retrofit of the interior of João Gonçalves Zarco was carried out by 48 maintenance technicians over a period of 7,500 hours in the TAP Hangar in Lisbon. TAP’s identity and its “Portugueseness” are now present throughout the cabin, which also demonstrates the commitment to the modernity and responsibility of a 72-year-old company.
New in economy class
The economy cabin now consists of two categories: economy plus and economy. The configuration and design provide a fresh atmosphere, with completely new seat covers in shades of green and grey in economy, and green with some red details in economy plus.
The new category has more space and seats that recline further.
More modern and comfortable executive class
In executive class, where the changes are more significant, the aircraft has been fitted out with completely new fully reclining chairs, full flat, that are 1.93 metres long when fully reclined. Placed in a luxurious environment, is has 25 such seats.
Other elements improving the comfort of passengers travelling in this class include support for headphones, individual reading lights, tables with storage space, supports for bottles, USB slots and individual electrical sockets.
